Kathy Stalic, Herkimer Home volunteer and quilting historian, will be presenting this lecture at the Herkimer Home State Historic Site. The lecture will focus on the evolution of quilting in the Mohawk Valley from it's beginning on the colonial frontier to its advancements during the Industrial Revolution and beyond. How did the political, social, and economic changes surrounding the Mohawk Valley affect this specialized skill and advance it into a broader community. A Q&A session regarding specific techniques and styles of quilts will follow the lecture. This lecture is part of the Herkimer Home Education series and is free to the public.
