Localvore's Learning Opportunity

From 6:00PM to 8:00PM

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oneida County will be hosting this Localvore's learning opportunity (a localvore can be defined as someone dedicated to consuming locally raised and produced foods), in a two-part series beginning in November.

The first session will cover the importance of buying local, terminology associated with buying local meats and what quantities of meat to expect when purchasing a whole, half, or quarter of an animal. Proper handling procedures and assistance in selecting freezers will also be discussed.

Session two will feature a local chef's demonstration on how to cut up a whole chicken, meal planning and budgeting with local meats. Both sessions will be held at the Oneida County Farm and Home Center located at 121 Second St., Oriskany.

The cost to participate is $5.00 per session. The dates for the How to Buy Local Meats: A Localvore's Learning Opportunity are Thursday November 15th from 6-8pm and Thursday November 29th from 6-8pm. Please call 736-3394 ext. 132 to register by Wednesday November 14th.
