This Valentine’s Day - Share the Love by Donating Blood
AmeriCorps to Hold American Red Cross Blood Drive. The Utica Municipal Housing Authority AmeriCorps Program and the American Red Cross are teaming up for a blood drive at the Vega/Martinez Community Center, at Adrean Terrace at 1736 Armory Drive in Utica.
The Red Cross is encouraging all eligible and new blood donors to share the love this Valentine’s Day and donate blood to help maintain the community blood supply. You never know when someone, even your own family member or loved one, may need blood. In fact, every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood. Your one donation can help save up to three lives and it only takes about an hour of time.
“By rolling up your sleeve, you may help provide lifesaving blood where and when it is needed. This simple, heart-felt act may help save the life of a real person in your community,” Kay E. Schwartz, Chief Executive Officer, American Red Cross Blood Services - New York-Penn Region. “Please have a heart this Valentine’s Day and help us ensure that there is a plentiful blood supply for patients in need.”
Blood is an essential component for patient care in area hospitals, and the only source of blood is a healthy, volunteer blood donor. All presenting donors can enter for a chance to win a $50 movie gift card. One winner will be selected each day for the entire month of February. There will be additional raffles and refreshments available throughout the day.* Walk-ins are always welcome, but donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment in advance by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or by visiting redcrossblood.org.
